This graph also shows how stream flow (the blue line) increased and how this
flush of water into the system actually reduced its total salt load - as indicated
by the decrease in electrical conductivity plotted in red. At this time of year
there's not a huge amount of salts that wash like they do in the spring. It's
important to realize that there are still big increases in the loads of a number
of pollutants from this summer runoff, and this is an important impact even though
its a small fraction of the total salt load.
The black line shows the temperature of the stream.
